Product Details

Corn Cob Products from Pakistan

Corn cobs are the central core of the maize ear remaining after kernels have been removed. They are a lightweight, absorbent, abrasive, and biodegradable agricultural material with a wide range of industrial applications. Pakistani corn cobs are collected from farms and grain markets after the maize harvest, then dried, cleaned, and processed into three commercial forms at dedicated grinding and sizing plants.

Three Product Forms

Crushed Corn Cob
Coarse pieces, 5-20 mm. The most basic processed form, produced by hammer-milling dried cobs into irregular angular fragments. Used as biomass fuel in boilers and brick kilns, mushroom cultivation substrate, rough absorbent material, and raw feedstock for further grinding into meal or granules.

Corn Cob Meal
Medium grind, 1-5 mm. Produced by grinding and screening crushed cob into a uniform coarse powder. Highly absorbent (4-5x its weight in liquid). Used as animal bedding and litter for poultry, horses, reptiles and small animals, carrier for granular agrochemicals and fertilizers, oil spill absorbent, and industrial floor sweep compound.

Corn Cob Granules
Precision-sized particles in standard mesh grades: 4/6, 6/10, 10/14, 14/20, 20/40, 40/60 mesh. Produced by grinding, screening, and air-classifying to achieve tight particle size distribution. Used as soft abrasive blasting media, dry polishing and tumbling media, pet litter, cosmetic exfoliant, and pharmaceutical carrier.

Industrial Uses

  • Animal bedding and litter: Corn cob meal is a premium absorbent bedding material for poultry houses, horse stalls, reptile enclosures, and laboratory animal cages. Absorbs 4-5x its weight, low dust, biodegradable, and compostable after use

  • Abrasive blasting: Corn cob granules (20/40, 40/60 mesh) are a soft, biodegradable blasting media for cleaning, deburring, and deflashing metal parts, electronics, automotive components, and delicate surfaces without damaging the substrate

  • Polishing and tumbling: Fine corn cob granules are used as dry polishing and tumbling media for jewelry, metal parts, shell casings, gun barrels, and optical components

  • Biomass fuel: Crushed corn cob is burned as solid biomass fuel in industrial boilers, brick kilns, and biomass power plants. Calorific value of 3,800-4,200 kcal/kg with low ash content

  • Mushroom cultivation: Crushed corn cob is used as a substrate component in oyster mushroom and specialty mushroom growing operations

  • Agrochemical carrier: Corn cob meal and granules absorb and carry liquid pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, and fertilizer formulations for controlled-release granular application

  • Oil and chemical absorbent: Corn cob meal absorbs petroleum products, hydraulic fluids, solvents, and chemical spills in industrial facilities, garages, and warehouses

  • Pet litter: Corn cob granules are used as natural, biodegradable cat litter and small animal litter

  • Cosmetics and personal care: Ultra-fine corn cob powder is used as a natural exfoliant in facial scrubs, body scrubs, and soap formulations

Quality Assurance

Each lot includes a Certificate of Quality reporting moisture, particle size distribution, crude fibre, ash, calorific value, and foreign matter. Pre-shipment samples are provided for buyer evaluation. Material is sourced from verified processing plants with consistent drying, grinding, and screening standards.

Why Source From Pakistan?

Pakistan is one of Asia’s major maize producers, generating millions of tonnes of corn cobs as a harvest byproduct every year. Dedicated processing plants near the corn belt grind, screen, and grade corn cob into crushed, meal, and granule forms for domestic and export markets. Competitive raw material costs, year-round availability from two maize growing seasons, and established export logistics through Karachi port make Pakistani corn cob products an attractive supply source for bedding, abrasive, biomass, and agrochemical buyers worldwide. DaaTrade manages sourcing, sizing specification, quality testing, packaging, documentation and shipment through one export desk.

Frequently Asked Questions

A: Crushed corn cob is coarse 5-20 mm pieces used for biomass fuel, mushroom substrate, and rough absorbent applications. Corn cob meal is a 1-5 mm medium grind used for animal bedding, agrochemical carrier, and oil absorbent. Corn cob granules are precision-sized particles in standard mesh grades (4/6 to 40/60) used for abrasive blasting, polishing, tumbling, and pet litter. The price increases from crushed (lowest) to granules (highest) due to the additional grinding, screening, and quality control involved.

A: Standard blasting grades are 20/40 mesh (medium blast, general-purpose cleaning and deburring) and 40/60 mesh (fine blast, delicate surfaces and electronics). Coarser grades 10/14 and 14/20 are used for heavy-duty cleaning. Finer grades are used for polishing and tumbling. We can supply any standard mesh size or custom narrow cuts. Please specify your blasting application and surface material when requesting a quote so we can recommend the optimal grade.

A: Yes. We regularly supply mixed-form containers for importers stocking crushed, meal, and granules. Each form and size grade is separately bagged and labeled. Specify the quantity split between forms when submitting your requirement.
