Product Details

Lead-Zinc Concentrate from Pakistan

Lead-zinc concentrate is a bulk flotation product containing both lead sulphide (galena) and zinc sulphide (sphalerite) minerals in a single concentrate. It is produced from polymetallic ores where lead and zinc mineralization are finely intergrown or where separate lead and zinc flotation circuits are not economically justified. The concentrate is a fine, dense, dark grey to silver-black powder with high combined Pb+Zn content and recoverable silver credits. Pakistan’s lead-zinc deposits across Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa yield complex polymetallic ores that are processed into bulk concentrate at flotation plants near the mining areas.

Available Forms

  • Flotation bulk concentrate: fine powder, 80% passing 75 microns

  • Filtered cake: 8-12% moisture

  • Dried concentrate: < 5% moisture

  • Custom moisture and sizing on request

Industrial Uses

  • Imperial Smelting Furnace (ISF): Bulk lead-zinc concentrate is the standard feedstock for ISF smelters, which simultaneously produce lead bullion and zinc metal from a single mixed feed. The ISF process is specifically designed to treat bulk Pb-Zn concentrates that cannot be economically separated

  • Lead smelting with zinc recovery: Some lead smelters accept Pb-Zn bulk concentrate and recover zinc as a secondary product from slag fuming or Waelz kiln processing

  • Zinc smelting with lead recovery: Zinc smelters equipped to handle lead-bearing concentrates process the material and recover lead as a byproduct through lead residue treatment

  • Hydrometallurgical processing: Newer hydrometallurgical routes (pressure leaching, atmospheric leaching) can treat bulk Pb-Zn concentrates to selectively dissolve and recover both metals

  • Silver recovery: Silver present in both the galena and sphalerite fractions is recovered during smelting and refining. Silver credits can be a significant revenue component, especially from argentiferous deposits

  • Sulphuric acid co-production: SO₂ gas from roasting or smelting the concentrate is captured and converted to sulphuric acid as a co-product

  • Custom toll processing: Bulk concentrate is sold to custom smelters and toll processors under TC/RC contracts for multi-metal recovery

Quality Assurance

Each lot includes a Certificate of Analysis reporting Pb, Zn, Ag, Au, Fe, S, SiO₂, Cu, Cd, As, Sb, Bi, Hg, Se, Cl, F, moisture, and particle size distribution. Combined Pb+Zn payable content is the primary value determinant. Assays are performed by internationally accredited laboratories (ISO 17025). Settlement assays follow standard umpire procedures. Pre-shipment samples are provided for buyer approval. Third-party inspection (SGS, Intertek, Alfred H. Knight, Alex Stewart, or equivalent) can be arranged for sampling, weighing, and moisture determination.

Why Source From Pakistan?

Pakistan’s polymetallic lead-zinc deposits produce ores that yield high-value bulk concentrates with strong combined Pb+Zn content and recoverable silver credits. Dedicated flotation plants near the mines process the ore into export-grade concentrate meeting international smelter specifications. Competitive processing costs, established mineral export logistics through Karachi port, and full compliance with IMSBC and IMDG shipping regulations make Pakistan a dependable origin for lead-zinc concentrate. DaaTrade manages the full supply chain from flotation plant to destination smelter, including grade verification, sampling protocols, TC/RC negotiation support, hazardous goods compliance, documentation, and freight coordination through one export desk.

Packaging & Shipping

Packaging

  • Loose bulk in lined 20' or 40' containers (most common)

  • 1 MT jumbo bags with inner PE liner

  • 50 kg PE-lined polypropylene bags, palletized

  • Bulk vessel loading for large tonnages

Shipping

Loading port: Karachi Port or Port Qasim. Lead-zinc concentrate is classified as a Group A cargo under the IMSBC Code due to its potential to liquefy. TML certification and moisture testing are mandatory for bulk vessel shipments. Containers are lined with PE or woven PP to contain moisture and prevent contamination. The concentrate may also be classified under IMDG Code (UN 3077, Class 9) depending on composition. All hazardous goods packaging, labeling, and documentation are provided. Incoterms: FOB, CFR, CIF. Documents: Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Certificate of Origin, Certificate of Analysis, TML Certificate (bulk), Moisture Certificate, MSDS, Dangerous Goods Declaration (if applicable), Weight Certificate, Draft Survey Report (bulk), Bill of Lading.

Frequently Asked Questions

A: Our lead-zinc bulk concentrate typically contains 45-65% combined Pb+Zn, with Pb ranging from 20-40% and Zn from 15-30% depending on the source ore and flotation conditions. Silver content varies by deposit and can range from 100 g/t to over 2,000 g/t. The exact multi-element assay is reported on the Certificate of Analysis for each lot. Pre-shipment samples are always provided for buyer verification before dispatch.

A: Pricing is based on the LME lead and zinc prices, with payable metal content determined by settlement assay. Each metal has its own payable percentage, minimum deduction, and TC/RC structure. Silver credits are paid separately based on the Ag assay and prevailing silver price. Penalty element deductions apply for cadmium, arsenic, bismuth, antimony, mercury, and other deleterious elements exceeding agreed thresholds. The final value per dry metric ton (DMT) reflects the combined payable metals minus TC/RC and penalties. Our export desk can provide indicative pricing based on current market conditions.

A: Bulk Pb-Zn concentrate is most commonly processed in Imperial Smelting Furnaces (ISF), which are specifically designed to simultaneously recover lead and zinc from mixed concentrates. Some lead smelters with zinc recovery circuits, and some zinc smelters with lead residue treatment, can also accept bulk concentrate. Newer hydrometallurgical plants using pressure leaching or atmospheric leaching can selectively recover both metals.
