Product Details

Hematite Iron Ore from Pakistan

Hematite is a high-grade iron oxide mineral (Fe₂O₃) containing up to 70% iron in its pure form. It is the most important iron ore for blast furnace steelmaking and direct reduction iron (DRI) production. Pakistani hematite deposits yield ore with 55-63% Fe content, moderate alumina and silica gangue, and low levels of phosphorus and sulphur. The ore is hard, dense, and suitable for both direct furnace charge (as lumps) and sintering (as fines).

Available Forms

  • Run-of-mine (ROM) lumps: 10-200 mm

  • Calibrated lumps: 10-40 mm, 6-25 mm (blast furnace feed)

  • Fines: 0-10 mm (sinter plant feed)

  • Gravity concentrates: 60-63% Fe

  • Custom sizing available

Industrial Uses

  • Blast furnace ironmaking: Hematite lumps are directly charged into blast furnaces as part of the iron burden along with coke and limestone to produce pig iron for steelmaking

  • Sintering: Hematite fines are agglomerated into sinter cake at sintering plants, then charged into blast furnaces as a uniform, porous burden material

  • Direct Reduced Iron (DRI): Calibrated hematite lumps (10-25 mm) are used as feed in gas-based (Midrex, HYL) and coal-based (rotary kiln) DRI plants to produce sponge iron

  • Pelletizing: Hematite fines and concentrates are formed into pellets (9-16 mm) for blast furnace and DRI plant feed

  • Cement manufacturing: Iron ore fines are used as a corrective raw material in cement raw mix to provide Fe₂O₃ for clinker formation

  • Heavy media separation: Dense hematite is used as a heavy medium in coal washing and mineral beneficiation plants

  • Pigments and coatings: Micronized hematite is used as a red iron oxide pigment in paints, coatings, and construction materials

  • Counterweights and ballast: High-density hematite aggregates used in concrete for radiation shielding and offshore pipeline weighting

Quality Assurance

Each lot includes a Certificate of Analysis reporting Fe, SiO₂, Al₂O₃, P, S, TiO₂, MnO, CaO, MgO, LOI, moisture, and size distribution. Pre-shipment samples are provided for buyer approval. Third-party inspection (SGS, Intertek, or equivalent) can be arranged on request.

Why Source From Pakistan?

Pakistan has commercially significant hematite iron ore deposits in Kalabagh, Chiniot, and Balochistan, with active mining operations supplying both domestic steel mills and export markets. The ore’s high Fe content (55-63%), low phosphorus and sulphur, and good physical properties make it suitable for blast furnace, sinter, and DRI applications. Competitive mine-gate pricing and short haulage distance to Karachi port keep FOB costs attractive for importers across the Middle East, South Asia, and East Asia. DaaTrade manages sourcing, grade verification, sizing, packaging, documentation and shipment through one export desk.

Frequently Asked Questions

A: Our hematite iron ore typically contains 55-63% Fe depending on the source deposit and whether the material is run-of-mine or beneficiated. Gravity-concentrated material reaches 60-63% Fe. The exact Fe percentage and full chemical analysis are reported on the Certificate of Analysis for each lot. We can supply within a narrower Fe range subject to availability and volume commitment.

A: Hematite (Fe₂O₃) contains up to 70% Fe in pure form and is red-brown to black in color. It is non-magnetic and is reduced more easily in blast furnaces. Magnetite (Fe₃O₄) contains up to 72% Fe in pure form and is strongly magnetic, which allows magnetic separation for beneficiation. Hematite is the more commonly traded iron ore globally because it requires less energy to reduce and is available in higher natural grades from most deposits. Pakistan’s commercial iron ore deposits are predominantly hematite.

A: Yes. We supply calibrated hematite lumps in 10-25 mm and 6-25 mm size fractions suitable for gas-based and coal-based DRI plant feed. The ore is crushed and screened to your size specification, with tumble index, abrasion index, and reducibility data available on request. Pre-shipment samples are provided for metallurgical testing before you commit to a full order.
