Product Details

Copper Concentrate from Pakistan

Copper concentrate is produced by crushing copper sulphide ore, grinding it to a fine particle size, and processing it through froth flotation circuits. Air bubbles selectively attach to hydrophobic copper sulphide mineral particles (chalcopyrite, bornite, chalcocite) and carry them to the surface as a froth, which is collected, thickened, and filtered to produce a fine powder containing 20–30% copper. This concentrate is the global standard feedstock for copper smelters. Pakistan’s Balochistan province hosts copper sulphide deposits that are processed at flotation plants to produce smelter-grade copper concentrate.

Key Minerals in Concentrate

  • Chalcopyrite (CuFeS₂) — dominant copper mineral

  • Bornite (Cu₅FeS₄) — secondary copper mineral

  • Chalcocite (Cu₂S) — high-grade copper mineral

  • Pyrite (FeS₂) — iron sulphide (minor inclusion)

Industrial Uses

  • Primary copper smelting: Standard feedstock for flash smelters (Outotec), reverberatory furnaces, and Isasmelt/Ausmelt top-submerged-lance furnaces to produce copper matte (45–65% Cu), which is then converted to blister copper (98.5% Cu), fire-refined to anode copper (99.5% Cu), and electrorefined to LME Grade A cathode (99.99% Cu)

  • Precious metals recovery: Gold and silver are collected in anode slime during electrorefining and recovered as doré bars — precious metal credits are a significant revenue component of copper concentrate

  • Sulphuric acid co-production: SO₂ gas from smelting off-gas is captured and converted to sulphuric acid in acid plants — a major co-product used in fertilizer, chemical, and hydrometallurgical industries

  • Custom smelting and toll processing: Concentrate is sold to custom smelters under TC/RC (treatment charge / refining charge) contracts, where the smelter processes the material and returns refined copper and precious metals to the seller

  • Blending feedstock: Smelters blend concentrates from multiple origins to optimize furnace feed chemistry, manage penalty elements, and maximize throughput

Quality Assurance

Each lot includes a Certificate of Analysis reporting Cu, Fe, S, SiO₂, Au, Ag, As, Pb, Zn, Bi, Sb, Hg, Se, Te, Cl, F, moisture, and particle size distribution. Assays are performed by internationally accredited laboratories (ISO 17025). Settlement assays follow standard umpire procedures. Pre-shipment samples are provided for buyer approval. Third-party inspection (SGS, Intertek, Alfred H. Knight, Alex Stewart, or equivalent) can be arranged for sampling, weighing, and moisture determination at loading port.

Why Source From Pakistan?

Pakistan’s Balochistan copper belt is part of the globally significant Tethyan metallogenic zone, hosting substantial sulphide copper mineralization. Flotation plants in the region produce copper concentrate meeting international smelter specifications, with competitive pricing driven by lower mining and processing costs. Gold and silver credits in the concentrate add value for smelters and traders. Established mineral export logistics through Karachi port, IMSBC-compliant shipping procedures, and accredited sampling and assay services ensure reliable and transparent transactions. DaaTrade manages the full supply chain from flotation plant to destination smelter including grade verification, sampling protocols, TC/RC negotiation support, documentation, and freight coordination through one dedicated export desk.

Packaging & Shipping

Packaging

  • Loose bulk in lined 20' or 40' containers (most common)

  • 1 MT jumbo bags with inner liner, palletized

  • 50 kg PE-lined polypropylene bags, palletized

  • Bulk vessel loading for large tonnages (5,000+ MT)

Shipping

Loading port: Karachi Port or Port Qasim. Copper concentrate is classified as a Group A cargo under the IMSBC Code — moisture content must be below the Transportable Moisture Limit (TML) for bulk vessel shipments. Containers are lined with woven PP or plastic liner to contain moisture and prevent contamination. All bulk shipments include TML certification from an accredited laboratory. Incoterms: FOB, CFR, CIF. Documents: Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Certificate of Origin, Certificate of Analysis, TML Certificate, Moisture Certificate, Weight Certificate, Draft Survey Report (bulk), Bill of Lading.

Frequently Asked Questions

A: Our copper concentrate typically assays 20–30% Cu, depending on the source ore and flotation plant performance. The exact copper content, along with precious metal credits (Au, Ag) and penalty element levels, are reported on the Certificate of Analysis for each lot. Pre-shipment samples are always provided for buyer assay verification before dispatch.

A: Copper concentrate pricing is based on the LME copper price, with deductions for treatment charges (TC), refining charges (RC), and any penalty elements exceeding agreed thresholds. Precious metal credits (gold and silver) are paid based on agreed payable percentages and prevailing market prices. The final price per dry metric ton (DMT) is determined by the settlement assay, moisture deduction, and the applicable TC/RC terms. Our export desk can guide you through the pricing structure and provide indicative numbers based on current market conditions.

A: Copper concentrate is classified as a Group A cargo under the International Maritime Solid Bulk Cargoes (IMSBC) Code due to its potential to liquefy when moisture exceeds the Transportable Moisture Limit (TML). All bulk shipments include a TML certificate from an accredited laboratory, and moisture is tested at the port before loading. For containerized shipments, containers are lined to prevent leakage and contamination. We manage all shipping documentation and compliance through our export desk.
