Product Details

Red Onyx from Pakistan

Red Onyx is a translucent banded calcite mineral with a naturally occurring deep red coloration. The crimson, rust, and burnt amber tones are created by high concentrations of iron oxide (hematite and goethite) trapped within the calcite layers during the stone’s formation in underground cavities. White and cream calcite bands flow through the red base, creating dramatic contrast and visual movement across each slab. Red Onyx is among the rarest and most visually striking onyx varieties available globally. Pakistan’s Balochistan province is one of the few origins producing Red Onyx in commercially viable quantities with consistent color intensity.

Available Forms

  • Raw Blocks: quarry-extracted, for processing at the importer’s facility

  • Slabs: cut to standard or custom dimensions, 15-20 mm for backlighting, 20-30 mm for standard use

  • Tiles: 30x30, 60x60, 120x60 cm and custom formats

  • Backlit panels: slabs cut to 10-15 mm for maximum light transmission, with mesh backing

  • Custom shapes: circular, oval, curved, and bookmatched pairs

Surface Finishes

Polished, Honed. Polished finish intensifies the red coloration and maximizes depth and translucency.

Industrial Uses

  • Backlit feature walls: Red Onyx panels over LED light boxes produce a warm, fiery crimson glow that makes a powerful visual statement in hotel lobbies, premium bars and lounges, VIP rooms, high-end restaurants, and entertainment venues. The backlit effect is dramatic and unmistakable

  • Luxury feature walls (non-backlit): Large-format polished Red Onyx slabs as bold statement walls in penthouse interiors, executive boardrooms, private dining rooms, and flagship retail spaces

  • Bar and lounge counters: Backlit or standard-lit Red Onyx countertops, bar fascia, and display panels for upscale bars, cigar lounges, wine cellars, and nightclub VIP areas

  • Bathroom and spa interiors: Feature walls, vanity surfaces, and accent panels in luxury bathrooms where a bold, warm stone creates a dramatic focal point

  • Elevator and lift interiors: Backlit or polished Red Onyx panels in elevator cabs for luxury hotels and high-rise residential towers

  • Fireplace surrounds: Polished or backlit Red Onyx as a dramatic fireplace surround, creating a glowing focal point in living rooms and hotel lounges

  • Furniture and decorative objects: Red Onyx tabletops, console surfaces, lamp bases, bowls, trays, and statement decorative pieces

  • Religious and cultural installations: Altar surfaces, shrine panels, and decorative installations in mosques, temples, and cultural buildings

Quality Assurance

Each shipment can be supplied with a material inspection report. Translucency grading (A, B, C) and red color intensity grading are available. Third-party pre-shipment inspection (SGS or equivalent) can be arranged on request. All slabs are resin-treated and mesh-backed for structural reinforcement. Slab selection, bookmatching, and color matching services are available.

Why Source From Pakistan?

Red Onyx is one of the rarest onyx color varieties in the global natural stone market. Pakistan’s Balochistan deposits are among the very few commercially active sources of Red Onyx worldwide, making it a strategically important origin for designers, architects, and luxury stone importers. The vivid crimson-to-amber coloration, natural translucency, and dramatic visual character position Pakistani Red Onyx as a high-value, premium export stone. Modern processing facilities produce resin-treated, mesh-backed slabs ready for backlighting and architectural installation. DaaTrade manages sourcing, color grading, translucency grading, slab selection, quality verification, samples and export through one desk.

Frequently Asked Questions

A: The red coloration in our Red Onyx is 100% natural. It is caused by high concentrations of iron oxide (hematite and goethite) deposited within the calcite layers during geological formation. No dyes, stains, or artificial color treatments are applied. Each slab has a naturally unique pattern and color intensity. We offer color intensity grading so you can select slabs matching your project requirements.

A: Each onyx variety produces a distinctly different backlit atmosphere. White Onyx gives a clean, neutral glow. Green Onyx creates a jewel-toned emerald effect. Golden Onyx produces a warm, amber ambiance. Pink Onyx offers a soft, calming rose glow. Red Onyx delivers the most dramatic, fiery effect of all, with a deep crimson-to-amber glow that makes an unmistakable visual statement. Red Onyx is the preferred choice for luxury bars, lounges, entertainment venues, and bold hospitality interiors where visual impact is the primary design goal.

A: Red Onyx blocks tend to be smaller than Green or White Onyx blocks (typically 1-2 m³), which may limit maximum slab dimensions. Standard slabs are typically 180x100 cm to 220x120 cm depending on the block. For projects requiring larger visual coverage, bookmatched slab pairs create a mirror-image pattern that doubles the effective design area. We recommend discussing slab size requirements early so we can reserve suitable blocks at the quarry.
