Magnesite Powder from Pakistan

Magnesite powder is produced by finely grinding natural magnesite ore (MgCO₃) into a white to off-white powder with controlled particle size. It retains the chemical properties of raw magnesite while offering higher surface area and reactivity for industrial processing. Pakistan’s magnesite deposits across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan yield high-purity ore that is milled into a range of standard powder grades at dedicated grinding plants near the mine sites.

Industrial Uses

• Refractory raw material: Magnesite powder is pressed into green shapes and fired to produce magnesia refractory bricks, or blended into refractory castable, ramming, and gunning mixes for steelmaking and cement kiln applications

• Sorel cement and flooring: Fine magnesite powder is calcined and mixed with magnesium chloride solution to produce magnesium oxychloride (Sorel) cement, used in seamless industrial flooring, fire-resistant panels, and decorative terrazzo

• Construction materials: Magnesite powder is used in the production of magnesium oxide boards (MgO boards), fire-resistant panels, and specialty construction cements

• Agriculture: Ground magnesite is applied directly as a slow-release magnesium fertilizer and soil pH buffer for acidic soils. Magnesium is essential for chlorophyll formation and plant growth

• Animal feed: Magnesite powder is used as a magnesium supplement in livestock, poultry, and aquaculture feed formulations

• Environmental remediation: Magnesite powder is used for acid mine drainage neutralization, heavy metal precipitation, flue gas treatment, and industrial wastewater pH adjustment

• Chemical industry: Feedstock for producing magnesium sulphate, magnesium hydroxide, magnesium chloride, and other magnesium compounds through acid dissolution

• Rubber and plastics: Magnesite powder is used as a filler and reinforcing agent in rubber compounds and as a flame retardant synergist in plastics

• Paper industry: Used as a filler and coating pigment in specialty paper production

Each lot includes a Certificate of Analysis reporting MgO, SiO₂, CaO, Fe₂O₃, Al₂O₃, LOI, moisture, whiteness, pH, and particle size distribution. Pre-shipment samples are provided for buyer approval. Third-party inspection (SGS, Intertek, or equivalent) can be arranged on request.
