Medium-to-high grade manganese ore is the backbone of the global ferro-alloy industry. Ore in the 35-45% Mn range provides the optimal balance between manganese content, impurity levels, and cost, making it the preferred smelter feedstock for ferromanganese and silicomanganese production. Pakistani manganese ore in this grade has a dense, hard structure with a steel-blue to black metallic lustre and crystalline fracture surfaces. The ore is mined from the manganese-bearing formations of Balochistan and Lasbela, where geological conditions have produced compact, high-density deposits with favorable Mn:Fe ratios.
Run-of-mine (ROM) lumps: 10-250 mm
Hand-sorted lumps: 50-200 mm (40-45% Mn)
Crushed lumps: 10-75 mm, 5-25 mm
Screened fines: 0-10 mm, 0-5 mm
Custom sizing available
Ferromanganese production: Primary feedstock for submerged arc furnaces producing high-carbon ferromanganese (HC FeMn, 74-78% Mn). 35-45% Mn ore is the standard grade charged into FeMn furnaces either alone or blended with higher/lower grade ores to optimize manganese recovery and slag chemistry
Silicomanganese production: Combined with quartz and coke in submerged arc furnaces to produce SiMn (65-68% Mn, 14-18% Si). The 35-45% Mn grade provides balanced Mn input while the associated SiO₂ contributes to slag formation
Steelmaking (direct addition): High-grade manganese ore lumps (42-45% Mn) are directly added to steel ladles or converters as a manganese source for alloying and deoxidation in some steelmaking practices
Manganese chemical production: Feedstock for potassium permanganate (KMnO₄), manganese sulphate (MnSO₄), manganese dioxide, manganese chloride, and electrolytic manganese metal (EMM) production
Dry cell batteries: Higher-grade pyrolusite ore within this range (high MnO₂ content) is used as cathode material in alkaline and zinc-carbon batteries
Welding consumables: Manganese ore fines are used as a flux and alloying ingredient in welding electrode coatings and flux-cored wires
Glass and ceramics: Manganese compounds derived from this ore are used as decolorizers in glass production and as colorants in ceramic glazes
Each lot includes a Certificate of Analysis reporting Mn, Fe, SiO₂, Al₂O₃, P, S, CaO, MgO, BaO, LOI, moisture, and size distribution. Pre-shipment samples are provided for buyer approval. Third-party inspection (SGS, Intertek, or equivalent) can be arranged on request.
