Product Details

Copper Sulphide Ore from Pakistan

Copper sulphide ore is the primary source of copper metal worldwide. The dominant mineral in most copper sulphide deposits is chalcopyrite (CuFeS₂), often accompanied by bornite (Cu₅FeS₄), chalcocite (Cu₂S), and covellite (CuS). Pakistan’s copper deposits are part of the Tethyan metallogenic belt, the same geological formation that hosts major copper-gold deposits across Iran, Turkey, and Chile. Mining operations in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa extract copper sulphide ore for both domestic processing and export.

Available Forms

  • Run-of-mine (ROM) lumps: 0–300 mm

  • Crushed ore: 0–50 mm, 0–25 mm

  • Hand-sorted high-grade lumps: 50–200 mm (15–25% Cu)

  • Custom sizing available

Key Minerals

  • Chalcopyrite (CuFeS₂) — primary copper mineral

  • Bornite (Cu₅FeS₄) — secondary copper mineral

  • Pyrite (FeS₂) — iron sulphide gangue

  • Quartz (SiO₂) — silicate gangue

Industrial Uses

  • Copper smelting: Direct feed to copper smelters (flash smelting, reverberatory furnace, or blast furnace) for production of copper matte and blister copper

  • Flotation concentration: Beneficiation through froth flotation to produce copper concentrate (25–35% Cu) for smelter feed

  • Hydrometallurgical processing: Leaching and solvent extraction/electrowinning (SX-EW) for copper cathode production from lower-grade ores

  • Precious metals recovery: Gold and silver credits recovered as byproducts during copper smelting and refining

  • Sulphuric acid production: SO₂ gas captured during smelting is converted to sulphuric acid as a co-product

  • Copper chemicals: Processed copper used to manufacture copper sulphate, copper oxide, and other copper-based chemicals

Quality Assurance

Each lot includes a Certificate of Analysis reporting Cu, Fe, S, SiO₂, Au, Ag, As, Pb, Zn, moisture, and particle size distribution. Assays are performed by accredited laboratories. Pre-shipment samples are provided for buyer approval. Third-party inspection (SGS, Intertek, Alex Stewart, or equivalent) can be arranged. Umpire assay provisions are available for large contracts.

Why Source From Pakistan?

Pakistan sits on the Tethyan metallogenic belt one of the world’s most significant copper-bearing geological formations stretching from Turkey through Iran and into Pakistan. Balochistan province hosts extensive copper sulphide mineralization with commercially viable deposits actively being mined. Small-to-medium scale mining operations produce hand-sorted and crushed copper ore in export-ready volumes. Competitive mine-gate pricing, proximity to Karachi port, and established mineral export infrastructure make Pakistani copper ore a cost-effective feedstock for regional smelters and concentrators. DaaTrade manages sourcing, grade verification, sampling, packaging, documentation and shipping through one export desk.

Frequently Asked Questions

A: Our copper sulphide ore ranges from 5% to 25% Cu depending on the source deposit and degree of hand-sorting or upgrading. Run-of-mine ore typically assays 5–12% Cu, while hand-sorted high-grade lumps can reach 15–25% Cu. The exact copper percentage and full multi-element assay are reported on the Certificate of Analysis for each lot. We can supply lots within a narrower Cu range subject to availability and volume.

A: Some of our copper sulphide ore sources carry trace to modest gold (up to 2 g/t) and silver (up to 30 g/t) credits, which are recoverable during smelting and refining. Precious metal content varies by deposit and is reported on the assay certificate. If precious metal credits are important to your economics, please specify this when requesting a quote and we will source from deposits with documented Au/Ag values.

A: The main penalty elements in copper smelting are arsenic (As), lead (Pb), zinc (Zn), bismuth (Bi), and antimony (Sb). High levels of these elements incur deductions or rejection by smelters. Our copper sulphide ore typically has As < 0.5%, Pb < 0.5%, and Zn < 1%. Full penalty element analysis is included in the Certificate of Analysis. Please share your smelter’s penalty element limits when requesting a quote so we can match you with suitable ore sources.
