Soapstone is one of the softest natural stones in the world (Mohs hardness 1-2), making it the ideal medium for hand carving, machine carving, and CNC sculpting. Pakistani soapstone carving blocks are cut from high-purity talc deposits in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The stone has a clean white to cream color with a smooth, waxy texture and fine, uniform grain. It carves cleanly without splintering or cracking, holds intricate detail, and accepts a smooth polish ranging from matte satin to a soft wax-like sheen.
