Product Details
Refractory Bauxite from Pakistan
Refractory bauxite is produced by high-temperature calcination of raw bauxite ore, converting alumina hydrates into stable, dense mineral phases (corundum and mullite) that resist extreme heat, chemical attack, and mechanical abrasion. The calcined product is a hard, grey, porous aggregate with excellent thermal shock resistance and low thermal expansion. It is the foundation material for high-alumina refractories used in the most demanding industrial furnace environments. Pakistan has bauxite deposits with suitable chemistry for refractory calcination, and dedicated kiln operations produce calcined bauxite meeting international refractory specifications.
Available Forms
Calcined lumps: 0-50 mm, 25-50 mm
Graded aggregates: 0-1 mm, 1-3 mm, 3-5 mm, 5-8 mm, 8-15 mm
Refractory powder: 200 mesh, 325 mesh (for matrix and binder systems)
Custom sizings and blends available
Industrial Uses
High-alumina refractory bricks: Calcined bauxite aggregates are the main component in 70-85% alumina refractory bricks used as permanent linings in blast furnaces, hot blast stoves, steel ladles, EAF roofs, cement kilns, glass tanks, and incinerators
Castable refractories: Graded bauxite aggregates are mixed with calcium aluminate cement and additives to produce castable (refractory concrete) linings for steel tundishes, ladle walls, blast furnace runners, and petrochemical reactors
Gunning and ramming mixes: Fine bauxite aggregates and powder are used in refractory gunning, shotcreting, and ramming mixes for hot repairs and maintenance of furnace linings
Monolithic refractories: Bauxite-based plastic, vibration-cast, and dry-vibe refractory mixes for complex furnace geometries and rapid installation
Kiln furniture: Calcined bauxite is shaped into kiln shelves, posts, and saggers for firing ceramics, sanitaryware, and technical ceramics at high temperatures
Abrasives: Brown fused alumina (BFA) is produced by electric arc fusing of calcined bauxite, used in grinding wheels, sandpaper, blasting media, and anti-slip surfaces
Proppants: Sintered bauxite microspheres are used as high-strength proppants in oil and gas hydraulic fracturing operations
Welding flux: Calcined bauxite is used as an ingredient in welding flux formulations for submerged arc welding
Quality Assurance
Each lot includes a Certificate of Analysis reporting Al₂O₃, SiO₂, Fe₂O₃, TiO₂, CaO, MgO, Na₂O+K₂O, bulk density, apparent porosity, and size distribution. Pre-shipment samples are provided for buyer approval. Third-party inspection (SGS, Intertek, or equivalent) can be arranged on request.
